Hurricane Ian Response

As many of you know, Hurricane Ian hit the Caribbean, Cuba, Florida and the East Coast at the end of September. This Category 4 hurricane with 140 MPH winds and floodwaters as high as 8 feet, has caused major flooding, wind damage, and loss of homes and lives.

With the help of our Foursquare Family, FDR's Ready Fund enabled partnership with several local Foursquare churches, regional partners, and FDR responders to unite and serve our churches affected by Hurricane Ian. Our local churches were able to deliver 20 semi-loads of immediately needed food, water, tarps, generators, and so much more. We also have FDR responders and church teams serving on the ground. This relief work is possible because of the local church and FDR Responders along with emotional and spiritual care teams, who are seeing people come to Christ as a result of the compassion that's being extended.

What is happening as a result of Hurricane Ian?

  • Hurricane Ian was a Category 4 hurricane that swept through the Caribbean, Cuba, Florida, and other parts of the East Cost. This hurricane tied for the fifth strongest hurricane to make landfall in the United States with 140 MPH winds and floodwaters as high as eight feet.
  • As a result, there have been almost 100 deaths, with many individuals losing their homes and belongings. Many have lost jobs and are experiencing an economic toll.

How is Foursquare Disaster Relief helping?

  • FDR's Ready Fund has enabled partnership with several local Foursquare churches and FDR responders to serve the churches affected by the hurricane.
  • Our main base for this response has been in the Ft. Myers area with Mission Community Church and several Foursquare churches in the greater Orlando area. Our regional pastors have been critical in helping to mobilize more churches to be relief hubs.
  • Currently, we have sent approximately 20 semi-loads of food, water, and other relief supplies to Ft. Myers, which have been distributed daily through our local churches and their partners.
  • FDR Responders and church teams are on the ground serving those who are in need and desperate for hope.
  • Built a shower facility for FDR responders and church teams.
  • Supported Mission Community Church in the establishment and continuation of being a distribution center, including acquiring needed equipment
  • All of this relief work is possible because of the local church and FDR Responders along with emotional and spiritual care teams, who are seeing people come to Christ as a result of the compassion that's being extended.
