Urgent Support Needed with Map of Country

Myanmar Crisis Response

The ongoing military coup in Myanmar, paired with the ravages of a global pandemic, has left its people in dire need. The country’s infrastructure has broken down, and it is challenging to get food and relief into the country.

Coronavirus has also hit the local job market hard, putting countless people out of work. With the loss of reliable income, many people struggle to pay for the skyrocketing cost of food.

How we are helping in Myanmar?

Foursquare Disaster Relief has provided:

  • Food. FDR continues to provide food to people hiding in their homes and jungle.
  • Medical care. FDR is providing medicine and lifesaving oxygen tanks to those who have contracted Covid-19.
  • Spiritual care. Local pastors are continuing to risk their lives to deliver food and medicine to those in need.
  • Prayer. We continue to pray with The Foursquare Church in Myanmar for peace in their nation.

January 2022

Update from our Southeast Asia Regional Coordinator Paul Vernon

100 Myanmar Foursquare churches are aiding amid the political unrest and 2021 Covid outbreak with FDR. The situation in the cities is starting to stabilize; however, pockets of conflict continue to erupt in the rural areas - especially the jungles in the Karen and Karenni states - where they are still experiencing significant conflict.

One Foursquare pastor was forced to flee with her village three weeks ago (just before Christmas) and is now in a refugee area run by NGOs in Thailand. Thailand Foursquare pastors are assessing the situation and reported today that there is no need for food or water, but they have said there are 4000 refugees in the camp right now, and we are watching the needs closely.
