Texas Storm

In February, freezing temperatures brought inclement weather to Texas and caused a crisis for people not prepared, leaving them without power, water, and burst pipes. FDR and local churches in Louisiana and Texas partnered to help respond to the needs of their communities.

Early in February, an unexpected storm hit the northern part of Texas, bringing extreme cold temperatures with up to 15in of snow in some areas. The area was not prepared to handle the inclement weather, which caused power outages and burst pipes across the region. People had no access to water, food, or power.

Foursquare Disaster Relief partnered with churches in Texas and Louisiana to distribute food and water to struggling communities. A team of plumbers also came to assist people with broken pipes caused by the freeze.

This response provided relief to hurt communities and prepared local churches to respond to future crises.
