Disaster Relief Training

Jay and Patty Donnelly Chaplains and FDR Leaders teach this in-person Disaster Relief Training. The goal is to equip leaders to respond and make a difference in disasters and crises. The Disaster Relief Training is a 16-hour course. The training is vital for anyone interested in assisting in a local, regional, or large-scale disaster, including serving with FEMA, State, County, and local disaster response teams. Training is mandatory for anyone wanting to help with Foursquare Disaster Relief teams at any level.

You will be instructed on how to continue CISM, FEMA and other specialized disaster relief training. FDR Disaster Relief Training will provide a Certificate of completion for the 16 hours of FDR training. To be certified as an FDR responder, students must complete an online form after Class verifying pastoral endorsement, a background check on file with their church, and an agreement with the standards in the Foursquare Child + Youth Protection Manual. This training and certification only apply to deployment through Foursquare Disaster Relief. We encourage each church to develop a local team and network with local First Responders so they can be available to work with their community emergency services when disaster strikes.

This Disaster Relief Training is broken up into two consecutive days.

FDR Medical Outreach: Burundi

FDR Medical is excited to partner with the Foursquare Church and National Leader Bishop Serges, in Burundi Africa for a medical outreach on September 4-15, 2023. Burundi has become the poorest nation in the world: Poorest Countries in the World 2022 | Global Finance Magazine (gfmag.com).

With poverty comes worsening morbidity and mortality rates. FDR Medical will be serving Burundi in the Ngozi, Masanganzira area at the Hope Clinic and out to more rural villages that do not have access to any medical care.

About: FDR Medical is our dedicated medical response team. This team comprises doctors, dentists, nurses and other medical professionals who use their knowledge and expertise to bring healing to communities worldwide.

Mission: FDR Medical is unique in its ability to deploy when disaster strikes. Foursquare has thousands of churches in more than 150 nations around the world. We link with these churches and minister to the affected community by providing medical and spiritual care.

Ongoing – Disaster Relief Training Church Host

Do you want to equip your church leaders with Disaster Relief Training? To be a Foursquare church ready to respond when a disaster hits your community? Our team is currently scheduling ongoing DRT training events for this year.

Date: Ongoing, 16-hour course taught on two consecutive days.

Cost: $1000 to bring our trainers to your site. Some churches are ok to cover the expense. Some charge per student and others fundraise. We hope to see each church embrace the opportunity as part of equipping the saints for the work of the ministry.

Requirements:

  1. Identify a point person from your church who will work with the FDR Team with logistics and administration.
  2. Students need to be 18 years of age. As young as 16 years old if accompanied by a parent.

Critical Incident Stress Management Course: Assisting Individuals in Crisis

Course Description:  Crisis Intervention is NOT psychotherapy; instead, it is a specialized acute emergency mental health intervention that requires specialized training. As physical first aid is to surgery, crisis intervention is to psychotherapy. Thus, crisis intervention is sometimes called “emotional first aid.” The course is designed to teach the fundamentals of protocol for individual crisis intervention and to increase the knowledge of one-on-one crisis intervention in the fields of Business + Industry, Crisis Intervention, Disaster Response, Education, Emergency Services, Employee Assistance, Healthcare, Homeland Security, Mental Health, Military, Spiritual Care, and Traumatic Stress.

  • Psychological crisis and psychological crisis intervention
  • Resistance, resiliency, recovery continuum
  • Critical incident stress management
  • Evidence-based practice
  • Basic crisis communication techniques
