Ongoing FDR Responder Renewal + Recertification 2022

Are you a Disaster Relief Responder or a DRT Attendee who needs to be certified or recertified to deploy with FDR? If so, you are in the right place.

Below is the applicable info needed to complete the process. We recommend pausing and returning to finish if information needs to be collected. Questions? Email Fdrtraining@foursquare.org

 Needed to complete:

  1. If you are a DRT Attendee and NOT a Foursquare Licensed Minister you will need your Senior pastor’s name and email for pastor endorsement signature. If you are a Foursquare Licensed Minister, you will skip this requirement.
  2. Personal contact info
  3. Church info
  4. Proof of completing NIMS online course ICS-100/IS-100.C,  an equivalent, or an ICS course that supersedes the 100 (ICS-200/IS-200.C, IS-700/IS-700.B, IS-800/IS-800.D ) through FEMA (found athttps://training.fema.gov/nims/ )
  5. If you are a responder who has taken DRT in 2019 or earlier, you will need to show proof below of one of the two options:
  • Option 1: 
    • Confirm completion of at least two hours of Continuing Education in the last calendar year. Info needed:  Name, location, hours of instruction, instructor’s name and email for training or class.
  • OR Option 2.
    •  Deployment or response to state or nationally declared disaster within the last two years. Please submit the date, location, duration, and sending agency for a deployment.

6. $15 fee paid through Brushfire if you are Recertifying. If you are a New Registrant that just finished Disaster Relief Training you will bypass the fee until next year’s recertification.

Remember, all applicable info must be completed to certify or renew to deploy with FDR.

Once complete, we will add you to our list of updated responders and send you an ID card.

Jay and Patty Donnelly Chaplains and FDR Leaders teach this in-person Disaster Relief Training. The goal is to equip leaders to respond and make a difference in disasters and crises. The Disaster Relief Training is a 16-hour course. The training is vital for anyone interested in assisting in a local, regional, or large-scale disaster, including serving with FEMA, State, County, and local disaster response teams. Training is mandatory for anyone wanting to help with Foursquare Disaster Relief teams at any level.

You will be instructed how to continue CISM, FEMA and other specialized disaster relief training. FDR Disaster Relief Training will provide a Certificate of completion for the 16 hours of FDR training. To be certified as an FDR responder, students must complete an online form after Class verifying pastoral endorsement, a background check on file with their church, and an agreement with the standards in the Foursquare Child + Youth Protection Manual. This training and certification only apply to deployment through Foursquare Disaster Relief. We encourage each church to develop a local team and network with local First Responders so they can be available to work with their community emergency services when disaster strikes.

*Lunch: No conveniently located restaurants are near the church for the lunch breaks. The church will provide coffee, water and morning/afternoon break refreshments. *Optional: $20 additional fees to be paid at the church on the training day for two lunches provided on Friday and Saturday. Vegetarian options will be available. Refrigeration will also be available for those who want to bring their lunch.

Upcoming Spring 2023 – FDR Medical Mission Trip – Jamaica

About: FDR Medical is our dedicated medical response team. This team comprises doctors, dentists, nurses and other medical professionals who use their knowledge and expertise to bring healing to communities worldwide.

Mission: FDR Medical is unique in its ability to deploy when disaster strikes. Foursquare has thousands of churches in more than 150 nations around the world. We link with these churches and minister to the affected community by providing medical and spiritual care.

Location: Jamaica

Date: March 2023 (10 to 12 days in-country) – Specific dates in March TBD.

Cost: $1200-1500 for field expenses plus the cost of airfare.

Ongoing – Disaster Relief Training Church Host

Do you want to equip your church leaders with Disaster Relief Training? To be a Foursquare church ready to respond when a disaster hits your community? Our team is currently scheduling ongoing DRT training events for this year.

Date: Ongoing, 16-hour course taught on two consecutive days.

Cost: $1000 to bring our trainers to your site. Some churches are ok to cover the expense. Some charge per student and others fundraise. We hope to see each church embrace the opportunity as part of equipping the saints for the work of the ministry.

Requirements:

  1. Identify a point person from your church who will work with the FDR Team with logistics and administration.
  2. Students need to be 18 years of age. As young as 16 years old if accompanied by a parent.

Critical Incident Stress Management Course: Assisting Individuals in Crisis

Course Description:  Crisis Intervention is NOT psychotherapy; instead, it is a specialized acute emergency mental health intervention that requires specialized training. As physical first aid is to surgery, crisis intervention is to psychotherapy. Thus, crisis intervention is sometimes called “emotional first aid.” The course is designed to teach the fundamentals of protocol for individual crisis intervention and to increase the knowledge of one-on-one crisis intervention in the fields of Business + Industry, Crisis Intervention, Disaster Response, Education, Emergency Services, Employee Assistance, Healthcare, Homeland Security, Mental Health, Military, Spiritual Care, and Traumatic Stress.

Program Highlights: 

  • Psychological crisis and psychological crisis intervention
  • Resistance, resiliency, recovery continuum
  • Critical incident stress management
  • Evidence-based practice
  • Basic crisis communication techniques
  • Common psychological and behavioral crisis reactions
